Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou
This is another anime series adapted from a light novel series.
Sai Akuto, a seemingly normal student, enters a magic academy with the hopes of becoming a high priest one day. But when he is predicted to be the next Demon King, his whole life turns upside down.
I personally think the storyline is very interesting. But perhaps too much is focused on the ecchi parts etc. Towards the end, it seemed rushed, as well as confusing. Very little is explained of God, and purpose of Maou. There was also one confusing part, it was as if they had control over the monsters, yet did nothing to stop them from rampaging the school or attacking the people. I can't even tell which side the monsters were on. Very little is explained about Boichiro as well.
I also read the manga adaptation, and I was surprised at how different it was from the anime. Only the characters and setting remain the same. The plot itself, was almost completely different. Apart from Sai entering the school, none of the events from the anime or the manga can relate to each other. Not having read the light novel series, it's not possible for me to tell which is closer to the original.
Anime adaptations often tend to deviate from original storyline by large proportions. They tend to remove things that were there, or add things that weren't. I don't know why, and I don't know why the authors of those series agree to those changes either.

Unfortunately, for the specials, no single sub group did all the specials. 1 group did some, another group did others. Neither of the groups were willing to complete the whole specials. I personally prefer to be consistent, and keep all from one sub group. But this is it, and no other groups did it. I personally don't like it when sub groups choose to do only a select few episodes rather than the whole thing.

Korean Mangas? Forget it!
ReplyDeleteI saw the first episode to this series. I thought it was pretty funny. I will have to watch it all and let you know if I agree.
ReplyDelete@mechgouki
ReplyDeleteKimi no Iru Machi is actually Japanese.
But what is wrong in Korean mangas?
Same as in Japanese there are bad and good ones, till now I found only 3 really interesting. But I think it's bad do judge artwork this way. For example I would newer read/watch Skip Beat without recommendation, because at first sight it looked crappy for me.
Greetings.
I don't know how to explain, but somehow, it's just not the same.
ReplyDeleteI mean, yeah, technically, it's a bad way to judge, since a lot of JP manga sucks too. :P
But honestly, the general style of K-manga, is not to my liking. And I really don't think I will try to sift through them to see if there is any that I like.
I know that average level of manhwa is quite low, so searching throw them is quite pointless. So if you have some time check first chapters of Noblesse and The Breaker, because I doubt that you will find any better (wasting a lot of time).
ReplyDelete"Noblesse and The Breaker, because I doubt that you will find any better (wasting a lot of time)."
ReplyDeleteOkey, I will bite and take the challange.
I can generally agree manhwa doesn't have many titles you could call good. Then again there is that one title that tops all... and I mean all of them.
It's neither this "Noblesse" or "The Breaker". By the way, do you even know from where The Breaker rippes of his characters (not to mention he does it in a really shameless fashiom.
Have you two ever heard about "Shin Angyo Onshi"? THE best Manhwa.
I find nobless to anoying to read. 6 page chapters (2 of which are scanslator credits) and only 2 shots per page.

ReplyDelete"Shin Angyo Onshi":
For me any anime/manga/manhwa with historical elements are annoying, but i'll try it in free time.
Meantime I checked Noblesse once more, to be sure if it's really interesting. So I found that:
1. Every next chapter is better, while initial once are average+.
2. It's quite unpredictable for me, so I get a lot enjoyment from reading it.
3. Everything seems to be somehow logical.
"SAO" has as much historical elements as I have money. That would be - not much.
ReplyDeleteA fantasy setting, yes.
